Here is the background on how our MyTokyoStays logo was designed for our accommodations business. Let us know your thoughts! As we are located in Tokyo, Japan we wanted to embrace Japanese homes, specifically the traditional interior design of Japan. There were 3 areas with homes that are unique to Japanese architecture.
Shōji (障子) is a door, window or room divider consisting of translucent paper over a frame of wood that holds together a lattice of wood or bamboo.
Irimoya roof is the combination of Kirizuma roof and Yosemune roof. This roof has two floors, a small upstair, slopes 2 directions: back & front, built-in Kirizuma style. Irimoya roof is often used for temples and rich families.
Tatami (畳) is a type of mat used as a flooring material in traditional Japanese-style rooms. It’s made out of rush and cloth. The rush is woven in, and the cloth is used to cover the woven ends.
